Assist, a new Learning Platform based on the Alpha Engine, will be launched by AVP at BETT 2005.
AVP originally made its name with the award-winning Picturebase series of multimedia content, and is a well-established producer and distributor of learning content to British schools. They have strong links with both large and smaller producers of learning content, and they are particularly interested in Alpha's strong support for open standards. Peter Claxton comments, '''The AVP Managed Learning Environment, powered by the Alpha engine, will provide the infrastructure that teachers need to implement e-learning effectively in the classroom".
You can preview AVP Assist on stand ICT 140 at the Education & Special Needs Show at Olympia from 30th September to 2nd October, or come to its launch on stand W8 at BETT.

Alpha
Engine announces SCORM complianceAlpha Learning has announced that it is compliant with SCORM 1.2 at the highest level of RTE 3.
SCORM (the Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a protocol which allows interactive learning content to communicate with a Learning Management System. Compliance at the highest level with internationally accepted protocols such as SCORM ensures that Alpha LMS can support courseware from a range of leading publishers.
SCORM has been developed by Advanced Distributed Learning an organisation funded by the American Department of Defence and Aircraft Industry as well as a range of leading software companies. Further details of the SCORM protocol can be found on ADL's website.
Compliance is based on the use of ADL's test suite, leading to self-certification. RTE 3 is the highest level of compliance possible, indicating support for all of SCORM's functionality. Full test results are viewable here.
